About This Unit
Kinematics is the study of motion. This unit covers objects moving in straight-line paths (one dimension) and in parabolic paths (two dimensions): motion terminology, freely falling objects, projectile motion, and the commonly used kinematic equations.
About This Lesson
Welcome to Motion Terms, the first lesson in Unit 2: Kinematics.
This lesson introduces the vocabulary of motion โ the precise terms every kinematics problem is built on.
How to Use This Lesson
Teaching Video
In this video, I cover kinematic terms and their definitions. I will be diving into position, distance, displacement, velocity and acceleration, as well as average speed and average velocity. I also work through a practice problem and make two real-world analogies.
Practice Materials
Use the resources below to practice the concepts from this lesson. Try to complete the worksheet on your own before checking the answer key.
